Warriors beat Howell Twice

On a cool Monday afternoon at Warrior Field in Troy, the Brother Rice Warriors (13-1-1, 10-0)swept a doubleheader from the Howell Hawks winning the first game 8-4, and then winning the 2nd game 6-2.  Brother Rice pounded out 22 hits in just 10 innings of offensive work. (Senior SS) Freddie Jehle went 3-for-4 with a double and a Home Run in the 1st game. (Senior C) Sammy Stevens went 2-for-2 with a double and a Home Run in the 2nd game to lead the Warriors offensively.

(Senior RHP) Matt Ruppenthal tossed 4 scoreless innings while striking out 8 in the 1st game. (Junior LHP) Dominic Downs struckout the only batter he faced to earn the win.(Senior RHP) Tommy Lentz stretched his scoreless innings streak to 21 as he earned his 3rd Save of the year. He pitched the last 2 innings of Game #1. In Game #2 (Senior RHP) Randy Righter went the distance in a Game that ended early due to darkness. He pitched 5 innings and didn’t allow an earned run as he earned his 3rd victory of the season.
